5 Beneficial Things to Do Prior to Your Nose Job Appointment

Are you interested in having a rhinoplasty? Also known as a nose job, rhinoplasty is a beneficial procedure that can help boost your self-esteem and improve your physical appearance. If you are planning an upcoming nose job, take a look at these five things to do before your appointment:

1. Determine Whether You Have Realistic Goals and Expectations

When you begin your rhinoplasty journey, the first step will be determining your goals and ensuring they are realistic.

Several weeks before your nose job appointment, you will be able to discuss these goals with your plastic surgeon. Your surgeon will determine whether these goals are possible and move forward with developing your treatment plan.

2. Make a List of Medications and Supplements

Before your nose job, your surgeon will need to be aware of any medications or supplements you have been taking. This includes prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, and natural supplements.

Make a complete list of anything you take daily or regularly and bring it to your consultation appointment and the day of your procedure. You may be asked to stop taking certain medications or supplements in the days leading up to your surgery.

3. Receive Medical Clearance

Prior to facial plastic surgery, you may need to receive medical clearance from your primary physician. This usually applies to procedures that require general anesthesia, including rhinoplasty.

General medical clearance will involve a physical examination and possibly blood panels to ensure you are healthy enough to be put under anesthesia and receive a nose job.

4. Write Down Any Questions or Concerns

Long before the day of your surgery, you will want to be fully informed about what you can expect throughout the rhinoplasty process. Your consultation appointment is the primary time to ask questions and voice any concerns about the procedure.

However, if there is anything that you forget or something else that comes to your mind in the weeks leading up to your nose job, you can contact your surgeon or the support staff to have your concerns addressed.

5. Get Plenty of Rest and Stay Hydrated

In the days leading up to your facial plastic surgery, you will want to prepare your body for the procedure. You should get plenty of rest by sleeping at least seven to eight hours per night. You should also stay well-hydrated by drinking at least 64 ounces of water per day.

You will be asked to stop eating and drinking about 12 hours prior to your surgery as an anesthetic precaution, so you want to hydrate and nourish your body as much as possible before that point.

Scheduling Your Nose Job Appointment

Are you ready to begin your rhinoplasty journey? The rhinoplasty process cannot start without a facial plastic surgery consultation appointment. Before your consultation appointment, compile your medical records and bring a list of medications or supplements you take.

To better prepare for your rhinoplasty procedure, you can call your plastic surgeon’s office to ask for any additional information in advance.
